Quarters for a Cause

Thank you for your generosity.
Together, we've donated $21,340 since we started our campaigns!

Previous Campaigns

One month of every quarter, our office donates one quarter for every office visit to a local charitable organization.  We invite you to donate any spare change you have jingling in your pocket, too!  When we can, we offer other fun ways to get involved - food donations, etc. Oftentimes, we offer a new patient special where we donate a portion of the exam cost to the organization.  Here are the results from previous campaigns (including the generous donations of our patients!).  We are so grateful for your participation and help!

Eagle Wings disAbility Ministries

Eagle Wings disAbility Ministries was founded by Henk Wapstra in 2001.  He saw a need for serving adults with disabilities in the North Sound.  This amazing organization offers several programs to help adults with disabilities in the community, with over 2,000 people participating in their programs!

Perhaps the biggest program they offer is celebrations, free and open to all adults with special needs, their families and caregivers.  There are 40+ special events per year!

Today, Kinder Smoots is the Executive Director of Eagle Wings.  She is a personal friend of Dr. Matt & Monica's and we are thrilled to partner with Eagle Wings again.  During April, our donations went to help fund their Mother's Day brunch.  This is a very popular event and so important to recognizing the care and love these moms give their special needs children.

Save-A-Mutt

One Save-A-Mutt passion is transporting moms and puppies from high-kill California shelters. They have a team of rescue people in CA that save and foster these families until transport can be arranged. Once in Washington State, they provide quarantine, fostering and vet care.

With fundraisers, adoptions and donations they are able to save hundreds of dogs each year. These adopted puppies become
Hero Dogs, their adoption fees go back into the fund for rescuing more dogs and covering costs for both our medical cases and senior dogs – making them Heroes!

Salt of the Earth Food Blessings

Salt of the Earth started in 1992 as an outreach to teens on the streets of Everett. Sandra Richards partnered with a dynamic 83 year old woman named Mildred Yager who had a heart for these kids. Sandra began providing sack lunches for the teens. It started with 5 youth and word got around and it was soon 35. By this time, she was also making a hot meal.
It was getting expensive for their limited income so she asked local grocery stores if they could help in any way. The stores were generous and before she knew what was happening, she was feeding teens and adults. For 3 years Sandra was picking up food 365 days a year making sack lunches, hot meals and food baskets.

Salt of the Earth has 5 thriving food blessing locations in the area along with mercy housing and senior housing food drops. The organization is run by the love and compassion of our volunteers working together as the body of Christ. They rally together with the same heart and vision, serving the community.

Christmas House

Christmas House was founded in 1981 by Roy Fraser in his garage. Roy had heard of children in Snohomish County who had not received anything for the prior Christmas and was determined to change that. He established the first annual Christmas House and stocked it primarily with used toys and handmade items, which they refurbished and gave away to families in need. They served more than 100 children the first year.

Christmas House is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization in Everett, Washington that provides an opportunity for qualifying, low-income, Snohomish County parents to select free holiday gifts for their children age infant-18 years old.  In 2022 more than 50,000 gifts made their way from the Christmas House store to 2,580 homes, helping to make it a happy holiday for 7,300 children.

Marysville Community Food Bank

The Marysville Community Food Bank had its beginnings in the rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1974.  Over the years, the Food Bank operations have grown. In 1987, it was formally organized as a non-profit organization supported by 12 churches in the community, with oversight provided by a Board of Directors. Today, the food bank is a “partnership” supported by 18 community churches, service clubs, schools, businesses, volunteers, and individuals. Food is provided from a variety of sources. Local grocery stores contribute excess produce, dairy products, pastry, and bread. Food drives are conducted by schools, churches, garage sales, and service clubs.
Volunteers even glean local farms for fresh produce.

We took a pause during April and July, 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  We were so excited to get started again in October!

Hand In Hand Kids

In 2010, Hand in Hand was born from a group of foster parents, social workers and child advocates seeking to make positive, systemic changes in how children enter and are cared for in the foster system.

Hand In Hand exists to foster hope and opportunity for children and families in crisis by providing services focused on protection, provision and permanence.

Hand in Hand is currently renovating a new Safe Place shelter for children. The new shelter is a freestanding home that will provide not only emergency 72-hour shelter, but eventually up to 30-day extended care for children awaiting a more permanent environment.
Hand in Hand distributes emergency food boxes, provides after school academic support, covers utility bills, and meets children where they are whether that be at school, on the soccer field, or in the rhythm of daily life.

Through Hand in Hand Safe Place, the Outreach Program and newly developed Foster Support Services, this organization provides extensive resources and refuge to all children and families in need throughout our community.

The Saint Andrew Commission

The mission of the Saint Andrew Commission is to provide the Gift of counseling for those facing life’s most overwhelming storms.

There are times that families and individuals can find themselves overrun with unexpected storms. A job is lost, a medical diagnosis is made, a beloved child becomes sick. The heartache and hardship that these can create – both from mental and financial perspectives – is devastating, and often prevents people from getting the help that they need.

In a storm, even small swells can quickly grow into massive, crashing waves. Most of us can face the lesser but find it harder to stand firm against the greater… they crush, devastate, and sweep us off our feet. The Saint Andrew Commission endeavors to be the lifeline that helps people cope and face the waves with strength, resilience, and eventually healing.
