The most basic answer to this is negative stress. There are three dimensions of stress: physical, chemical, and mental. There are both positive stressors and negative stressors in each category. For example, a positive physical stressor is exercise, and a negative physical stressor is poor posture. When your body is exposed to stress (always) it must adapt to it. Most of the time, the intelligence in your body can adapt without any consequence. When overwhelmed with stress (pandemic in our society), your body’s intelligence must adapt by storing that stress somewhere in the body. This most commonly occurs near and around the spine. The result is the movable bones in your spine move less, and this disrupts the overall function to your body. In fact, a subluxation itself is a negative stress to your body!
