MORE Blueberries!

YOU are NOT too late!

​If you've read our blog before, you know we absolutely adore the family owned and operated Hazel Blue Acres blueberry farm!  They have three amazing varieties of blueberries and we went today for some late season picking.  We were so surprised to find a bazillion blueberries ready to pick!

Right now, the late season Liberty blueberry is in full swing.  These berries have a gorgeous sky-blue color and a balanced, plenty sweet, flavor.  We found bushes and bushes of big and beautiful berries absolutely ripe for the picking. 

​If you love picking berries by simply grabbing handful by handful, this is the time to go!  Monica and her three biggest boys picked 16 lbs in a half hour today!

Hazel Blue Acres is open this weekend on Friday and Saturday from 9-6, and Sunday from 12-5.  They will also be open next week! 

​Monica plans to bring the boys to one of Miss Karen's famous cooking demos on September 10.  They will be cooking (& sampling!) a delicious blueberry compote at 2pm and 6pm.  While there are no guarantees, we just might be lucky enough to pick a few more blueberries, too!  

​Blueberry picking is good for the soul, and blueberry eating is good for the whole you!

P.S. Monica branched out tonight and tried a blueberry crisp.  Oh.my.oh.my!!!  It was so amazing.  We paired it with Hazel Blue Acres signature blueberry ice cream (made by Lopez Island Creamery)... available at the farm.  It was heaven.
